Staff Software Engineer – AI + Cybersecurity - Fully Remote (USA) The Oho group are working with a fast-growing, venture-backed cybersecurity technology startup looking for a staff software engineer to join their growing team. Working at the forefront of AI and Cybersecurity you will drive innovation in fast APIs whilst setting technical direction and leading teams. What you will be doing • Lead architectural design and define technical specifications for scalable, high-performance systems • Design and develop robust services and APIs for an enterprise-grade platform • Own end-to-end delivery from development and testing through to deployment and maintenance • Conduct code reviews to ensure quality, consistency, and best practices • Mentor and support senior engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative culture • Partner closely with product and cross-functional teams to translate requirements into production-ready solutions What you need • 8+ years of software engineering experience, including leadership on large-scale distributed systems • Strong programming expertise in at least one modern language (e.g. Python, Java, or Go) • Hands-on experience building Python-based services (FastAPI or Flask), with solid testing practices (Pytest) • Proven experience designing and operating REST APIs at scale • Deep understanding of both relational and non-relational databases, including schema design and migrations • Strong knowledge of software architecture, design patterns, and engineering best practices • Experience with AWS services (e.g. Lambda, SQS, ECS, EKS) and containerised environments • Track record of leading projects and delivering against deadlines • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams • Exposure to LLMs and modern AI patterns (e.g. RAG, agents, tools) is a plus What's in it for you? • Competitive salary plus equity • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage • Unlimited paid time off • 401(k) with company match • Monthly stipend for home internet and mobile expenses If you want a new role which promises responsibility and huge career growth, apply now as interviews are already being scheduled!
