This part-time consulting role seeks experienced Software Engineers to evaluate AI-assisted software development sessions, review backend or full-stack code, assess debugging and development workflows, and provide rubric-based technical feedback. Responsibilities Evaluate complete software development sessions from initial requirements through implementationAssess whether resulting code is functionally and technically correctReview implementation choices for maintainability, reliability, and engineering qualityIdentify bugs, incomplete solutions, or problematic technical assumptionsApply practical software engineering judgement across realistic development scenariosReview backend or full-stack code for correctness and implementation qualityIdentify logical errors, regressions, edge cases, and debugging gapsAssess whether debugging approaches efficiently identify and resolve underlying problemsEvaluate proposed fixes for completeness and technical soundnessDistinguish substantive engineering issues from minor stylistic differencesEvaluate coding sessions performed with AI-assisted developer toolsReview how developers interact with coding assistants throughout implementation and debuggingAssess agentic and specification-driven development workflowsIdentify ineffective prompting, unnecessary iteration, or poor use of available development contextEvaluate whether AI-generated suggestions are appropriately verified before implementationReview multi-step coding trajectories rather than isolated code snippetsAssess the sequence of investigation, implementation, testing, and refinementDetermine whether development decisions follow a coherent and effective workflowIdentify points where a stronger engineering approach should have been takenEvaluate both final outcomes and the process used to reach themAssess engineering decisions against established software development practicesEvaluate architecture, implementation strategy, testing, and debugging choicesReview whether assumptions are appropriately validated during developmentIdentify unnecessary complexity or technically weak approachesApply professional judgement to ambiguous or imperfect coding scenariosAssess development traces against structured project criteriaProvide clear written explanations supporting evaluation decisionsIdentify specific evidence within the development session for each judgementApply scoring and review standards consistently across assignmentsDistinguish correct but unconventional approaches from genuinely flawed implementationsWork with development sessions involving tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or comparable AI-assisted coding environmentsEvaluate workflows involving repositories, specifications, code changes, debugging, and testingAssess how developers use tooling to investigate and modify existing systemsReview interactions between automated assistance and human engineering judgementContribute practical insight into effective developer-tool workflows Skills 3+ years of professional software development experienceStrong background in **backend or full-stack software engineering**Hands-on experience with **AI-assisted coding tools** such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or similar platformsExperience with **agentic or specification-driven development workflows**Strong code-reading and debugging skillsAbility to evaluate multi-step software development trajectories for correctness and best practiceStrong written communication and ability to provide precise technical feedbackFully remote within the **United States**Experience with **Kiro or Amazon CodeCatalyst** is preferredPrevious experience evaluating or grading AI-generated code is advantageousContributions to developer tooling are advantageous Benefits Part-time independent contractor engagementFully remote within the United StatesFlexible scheduling based on project requirements Company Overview At 24-MAG, we support emerging AI and consulting platforms by sourcing and connecting qualified professionals with remote, contract-based opportunities.
