This opportunity is for an Applied AI Engineer responsible for building and expanding AI-powered product features within a production SaaS platform. The primary focus is enhancing AI-driven customer experiences by developing practical generative AI capabilities that deliver measurable value in production environments.
This role combines Python development, backend engineering, prompt design, structured data processing, and AI application development while collaborating closely with engineering and product teams to deliver reliable, customer-facing AI functionality.
This position is best suited for an engineer who enjoys applying generative AI to real-world software products rather than conducting research or developing foundation models.
What You'll Do
• Build and enhance AI-powered product features in collaboration with engineering and product teams.
• Write, refine, and optimize prompts to improve AI response quality and overall feature performance.
• Develop Python-based backend services and APIs that support AI workflows and production applications.
• Work with structured data stored in PostgreSQL and vector-based data systems that support AI applications.
• Contribute to feature implementation within FastAPI-based application environments.
• Use AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity, software quality, and experimentation.
• Participate in technical discussions involving AI feature design, architecture, and implementation.
What Success Looks Like
• Deliver meaningful AI-powered product features within the first 60 to 90 days.
• Improve the usability, reliability, and quality of AI-generated capabilities.
• Contribute effectively within sprint-based software development cycles.
• Demonstrate sound technical judgment while balancing development speed, software quality, reliability, and maintainability.
Qualifications
Required
• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong Python development experience.
• Proven proficiency using AI-powered coding tools, with Anthropic Claude Code preferred.
• Experience building backend services or REST APIs.
• Experience integrating LLM APIs, generative AI services, or AI-enabled capabilities into production applications.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional engineering teams.

Preferred
• Experience with FastAPI or similar backend frameworks.
• Familiarity with prompt evaluation or LLM testing methodologies.
• Experience integrating AI capabilities into production SaaS platforms.

Salary: $125,000 - $155,000 per year
