About the Role

Role Overview:The Instructional Designer is responsible for translating subject matter expertise into structured, engaging learning experiences for Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses. Working closely with subject matter experts and instructional leadership, the Instructional Designer develops course outlines, learning objectives, activities, and assessments that align with established pedagogical frameworks and learner experience standards. Instructional Designers contribute to the creation of course blueprints and storyboards, ensuring instructional coherence across modules and lessons. They also support AI-assisted course development workflows by creating & revising AI prompts, reviewing and refining AI-generated outputs to ensure instructional quality, clarity, and alignment with program standards. Key Responsibilities:Course Design and Development • Develop course outlines, learning objectives, lesson structures, and instructional activities. • Create blueprints and storyboards that guide course production. • Ensure instructional alignment between objectives, learning activities, and assessments. • Support backwards design where required, particularly for certification-aligned courses, mapping objectives, assessments, alignment with state standards, and learning activities to exam criteria SME Collaboration • Work closely with subject matter experts to translate technical content into learner-centered instructional experiences. • Incorporate industry-relevant examples and applied learning opportunities into course content. Instructional Artifact Development • Produce instructional documentation such as course blueprints, lesson structures, and assessment plans. • Ensure instructional artifacts provide clear guidance for production teams. Platform-Aware Course Design • Design learning activities and assessments that align with the capabilities of the client's digital learning platform. • Ensure course designs incorporate appropriate interaction types and learner engagement patterns. AI-Assisted Content Development • Create and revise AI prompts to develop instructional content • Review and refine AI-generated instructional content to ensure instructional coherence and alignment with learning objectives. • Collaborate with prompt engineering teams as needed to improve AI-assisted outputs. Qualifications: • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Educational Technology, or a related field. • 3–7 years of experience designing digital learning experiences or curriculum. • Strong understanding of instructional design principles and learner-centered design. • Experience creating course outlines, blueprints, and instructional documentation. Preferred Experience • Experience designing CTE or workforce development curriculum. • Experience designing content for digital learning platforms or LMS environments. • Experience supporting AI-assisted course development workflows.
