Summary: AI-Native engineering is the new baseline at Age of Learning — engineers who do not just use AI tools occasionally, but design their workflows around them, orchestrate agents to plan and execute work, and treat AI coding agents as a first-class collaborator. We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer, AI Native to join the ABCmouse product team within Digital Consumer Products. You will help us build high-performance web and mobile applications that reach millions of learners, while helping us craft how AI-Native engineering takes shape on our team. AI Native Expectations: Daily use: You use AI coding agents (for real, substantive tasks — analysis, coding, refactoring, testing, navigating codebases, and documentation. Not just research or autocomplete. Velocity: We expect engineers who use AI well to operate with meaningful leverage — doing more at the same time and improving productivity for themselves and their team. Team leadership: As an AI champion, you share what works, whether that be skills, plugins or MCP's, providing guidance and setting standards on usage for your team and the company as a whole. Continuous learning: The tooling is changing fast. You stay current and bring recommendations to the team when something would meaningfully improve how we work. Responsibilities: Apply agentic workflows across the SDLC — refactoring, test generation, debugging, documentation, codebase navigation — and help evolve the team's AI-Native engineering practices in the process Own features end-to-end through production — monitor what you ship and use data to validate your assumptions Drive technical decisions and architectural direction for your area of ownership; the code you ship sets the standard for the team Leave the codebase cleaner than you found it — refactoring is not a separate backlog item, it is part of how you ship Partner with Product, Design, and stakeholders to align on scope, priorities, technical tradeoffs, and delivery timelines Identify, design, and develop features and functionality within applications for deployment to web, iOS, and Android Minimum Qualifications: 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, ideally consumer-facing and content-driven web or mobile applications 2+ years of hands-on experience prompting, evaluating, and building with LLMs and AI coding assistants Deep experience with agentic workflows, prompt engineering, and context window management Track record of using AI tooling to multiply your own output — not just as autocomplete, but as a genuine development partner Demonstrated ability to own features end-to-end through production, including post-release monitoring and learning from data Shipped production cross-platform mobile applications to both the iOS App Store and Google Play Familiar with software design paradigms and design patterns Solid understanding of the full software development life cycle Experienced with performance tuning and optimization techniques for both front-end and backend systems. Strong communication and collaboration skills Genuine excitement for helping define what AI-Native engineering means at Age of Learning Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor of Science in Computer Science degree or related subject Experience with MCP, function calling, or tool-using agents Experience with Svelte or SvelteKit Experience consuming REST and/or gRPC APIs Proficient in JavaScript and TypeScript Proficient in Flutter and Dart Experience working in an Agile development framework Educational and/or game development experience The estimated salary range for a new hire in this position is below. Salary may vary depending on job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
