Search Engineer

Strong software engineering skills with experience building production systems using Python and distributed data/search platforms. - 5+ years of experience designing, tuning, and operating Elasticsearch or OpenSearch-based search platforms. - Experience with search relevance metrics and experimentation frameworks such as CTR, conversion, NDCG, recall, precision, or engagement-based evaluation - Experience with observability and search infrastructure tooling such as Kibana, Logstash, Datadog, Grafana, or related monitoring platforms - Experience building scalable distributed systems with attention to latency, throughput, relevance quality, and operational reliability. -Familiarity with database architecture and design - Ability to effectively leverage AI-assisted development tools while maintaining strong engineering quality, observability, testing, and operational standards -A deep interest in understanding user behavior and improving user experience - Experience operating production systems, including incident troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, observability, metrics instrumentation, alerting, and reliability improvements. -A strong test-and-learn mindset -Ability to mentor and coach team members to drive excellence -Excellent problem-solving, cooperation, and strategic thinking skills Nice-to-Have: -Experience collaborating with Machine Learning Engineers or Data Scientists -Familiarity with message-queue-based pipelines -Experience with porting features between search platforms
