They are seeking a Senior AI Engineer to design and build a modular AI system that transforms messy building engineering data into reliable engineering deliverables, ensuring accuracy and defensibility in outputs. ResponsibilitiesDesign a modular system where concurrent multi-user access, permissions, and state are foundationalBuild the end-to-end data pipeline—from ingestion to verificationOwn compute procurement and deployment across cloud, colocation, or on-premise hardwareImplement context engineering, prompt caching, model routing, and batching to optimize unit economicsBuild clean, versioned integrations with external systems and design ergonomic, low-latency interfacesEnsure strict client data isolation, robust authorization models, audit logging, and clear third-party data governanceCalibrate automated checks and human review gates based on the real-world consequences of each outputPartner with internal engineers to encode their domain expertise into system designLeverage budget for outside specialists, scope work, vet contractors, and manage deliverablesSkills Demonstrated experience shipping production LLM/AI applications — not demosMulti-step pipeline and agent orchestrationA track record of substantial side projectsExtraction from genuinely messy real-world dataStrong grasp of retrieval architecture (RAG, chunking and indexing strategy, hybrid search) and its failure modesInfrastructure and hardware fluencyData engineering depthSecurity-mindednessProduct and interface sensibilityPragmatism for a small, profitable, non-hyperscaler shopStrong systems-design judgment and the ability to explain trade-offs plainly to a technical audienceWorkflow automation and connector-heavy integration work at a production scaleExperience in a regulated or liability-bearing domainFamiliarity with the AEC, building-engineering, energy, or technical-document domainExperience as a first or lead AI hire, setting direction for othersBenefitsFull employee benefitsHybrid/remote.
