Principal AI/ML Engineer

Our client, a growing insurance carrier going through a digital transformation, is seeking a Principal AI/ML Engineer, a newly created position that will be accountable for developing a strong and robust AI/ML platform. Our client is very interested in using new AI tools (Claude Code, Vibe Coding) to begin deploying AI-authored code into production in a responsible, reviewed manner. This role will lead the integration of AI into existing workflows, will create the patterns for model development (authoring RFCs and ADRs for major decisions), and build reference implementations for the team to adopt. Our client is looking for a disciplined individual to help evolve the AI/ML platform through continuous review and assessment. This hands-on role will: • Lead model development and engineering • Set MLOps standards and monitor the model lifecycle • Set responsible AI standards • Partner with Data Engineering, as well as other areas of the business • Collaborate with vendors • Mentor junior AI/ML engineers and run code review • Set continuous improvement standards and review Previous experience integrating AI-coding into production is required. This can be a fully remote position.
