AI Engineer

The Role • Design, build, and run AI agents to automate work across digital commerce and transformation programs • Deliver governed, production-ready agents primarily on Microsoft's AI platform (Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, Copilot Studio, Microsoft 365, Teams) • Own the end-to-end path for agents, from system prompt and tool schema through deployment, monitoring, and iteration, ensuring compliance with Agentic Framework standards • Collaborate with program managers, data engineers, BI developers, solution architects, and security partners • Define best practices for agent deployment and usage, and articulate agent capabilities and limitations to non-engineers • Work in a hands-on, product-minded capacity, identifying genuine use cases for AI agents within business workflows What You'll Need • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or equivalent experience • Four or more years of software engineering experience, with at least one year building production LLM-based or agent-based applications • Strong Python skills, with C# or TypeScript as a plus, and proficiency with asynchronous APIs, REST, GraphQL, JSON schemas, and Git workflows • Hands-on experience with Microsoft AI services (e.g., Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Search) and at least one of Copilot Studio, Semantic Kernel, or Microsoft Agent Framework • Practical experience with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), including chunking, embeddings, vector search, reranking, and evaluation • Working knowledge of Model Context Protocol or similar tool/function-calling patterns, with strong schema design and versioning skills • Demonstrated skill in prompt and context engineering, including system prompts, few-shot design, and model-specific behavior • Experience evaluating LLM systems using offline/online methods, regression suites, and human review loops • Familiarity with Microsoft Entra ID, OAuth2, JWT, RBAC, API gateway patterns, CI/CD, containers, IaC, and observability tools What's On Offer • Opportunities to work with cutting-edge AI technologies and develop innovative solutions • Collaborative environment with cross-functional teams • Comprehensive benefits package and professional development opportunities • A focus on continuous learning, career resources, and certification support Apply via Haystack today!
