Lead AI Engineer

This senior, hands-on leadership role sits at the core of an enterprise AI transformation initiative, combining advanced engineering, cloud architecture, and team leadership responsibilities. You will lead the development of an internal AI assistant platform and a growing suite of AI-driven automation solutions used across multiple business units. The role blends strategic architecture design with deep technical execution, requiring someone who can both build and guide complex AI systems in production. You will work closely with senior AI leadership to define scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions in a modern Azure environment. Beyond architecture, you will directly manage and mentor a development team, driving engineering excellence and delivery velocity. Accountabilities • Lead the design and execution of end-to-end AI solutions, including agentic workflows, RAG pipelines, LLM integrations, and enterprise system connectors. • Own solution architecture decisions and progressively expand architectural responsibility across initiatives. • Define, enforce, and improve engineering standards covering code quality, security, testing, deployment, and documentation. • Architect and manage cloud-native solutions in Azure, selecting optimal services for compute, storage, security, and scalability needs. • Oversee deployment, monitoring, and operational reliability of AI services in enterprise environments. • Collaborate with IT and security stakeholders to ensure compliance with enterprise architecture and governance standards. • Contribute hands-on to backend development, APIs, automation workflows, and full-stack integrations when needed. • Lead code reviews and ensure consistent technical excellence across the development team. • Guide agile execution, including sprint planning, delivery coordination, and continuous improvement practices. • Mentor engineers through coaching, pair programming, and technical leadership. Requirements • Bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. • 6+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 3 years in AI/ML or enterprise AI systems. • Strong expertise in Python, including FastAPI, REST APIs, and backend service development. • Proven experience deploying and operating solutions in Microsoft Azure (App Services, Functions, Cosmos DB, AI Search, Key Vault, and networking/security). • Hands-on experience building RAG architectures with vector search, semantic retrieval, and LLM integration. • Experience with agentic frameworks such as LangChain or LangGraph. • Familiarity with React-based front-end development and full-stack system integration. • Strong systems thinking with the ability to evaluate trade-offs, scalability, and security implications. • Experience mentoring or leading engineering teams in a technical leadership capacity. • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical decisions clearly.
