AI Engineer — Applied AI & Automation

You'll join a small engineering team developing AI-powered tools for an established business. Working directly with internal users, you'll identify tasks that can be improved, build practical solutions and take them through to production. This role offers hands-on ownership, access to modern AI tooling and the opportunity to shape applications that people use.
Responsibilities
• Build AI assistants and automated workflows that connect language models with business systems and data.
• Turn loosely defined requests into clear requirements and working applications.
• Develop integrations, reusable tools and services using Python.
• Implement tool calling, retrieval and orchestration to help AI applications complete multi-step tasks reliably.
• Test outputs, investigate failures and improve performance using user feedback and evaluations.
• Deploy and maintain your work, with clear documentation and sensible engineering practices.
Qualifications
• A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or a related technical discipline.
Required Skills
• 3–5 years of professional experience in software, data or AI engineering.
• Strong Python, with the ability to write clean, modular and maintainable code.
• Practical experience building with LLMs, including prompting and tool use.
• Familiarity with Git, Docker and modern application development.
• Confidence working with non-technical colleagues and understanding their needs.
• The ability to manage your own deliverables and follow projects through to completion.
• We're interested in what you've built, the decisions you made and how you improved it. Relevant personal projects are welcome alongside professional experience.

• Agent orchestration or multi-agent applications.
• LLM evaluations and model comparisons.

• This is an onsite role in Houston, Texas.
