We are deliberate counter-builders: reversing the dark patterns embedded in mainstream technology and replacing them with architecture that honors the human nervous system as the primary interface. The RoleWe are seeking a Founding Technical Architect — a senior, mission-aligned technologist who will serve as the structural backbone of our engineering effort. This is not a traditional senior engineering role. It requires someone who understands both the craft of scalable, enterprise-grade software and the higher purpose behind what we are building. You will sit at the center of our technical triangle: Vibe CoderUI/UX & App SurfacesYOUTechnical ArchitectAI/LLM BuilderKai Companion Brain Your role is to ground, guide, and unify — ensuring that what is being built today is scalable, sound, and aligned with where we are going tomorrow. What You Will Do1. Architecture & Cloud Infrastructure • Design and establish a scalable cloud environment capable of supporting rapid user growth, with a clear path from early-stage to enterprise scale • Define the technology stack and infrastructure approach with an open, agnostic mindset — weighing open-source solutions alongside commercial platforms • Build for graceful scaling: from current prototype stage through high-volume production, and eventually to independent infrastructure if and when appropriate • Establish CI/CD pipelines, environment management, monitoring, and security best practices from the start2. Technical Leadership & Mentorship • Serve as the senior technical voice and grounding presence for two builders who come from vibe-coding and AI experimentation backgrounds rather than traditional software engineering • Translate architectural vision into clear, actionable, digestible guidance for non-traditional technologists • Implement and embed engineering best practices — code quality, documentation, version control, testing, and deployment workflows • Mentor and grow the technical capacity of the team over time3. AI & Product Integration • Collaborate closely with the AI/LLM builder working on Kai — our AI companion — to ensure the model architecture, data pipelines, and integrations are built on sound engineering foundations • Guide the vibe coder building our user-facing web and app surfaces to produce clean, scalable, maintainable front-end and interface code • Bring a strong understanding of modern AI tooling, APIs, and patterns to inform how AI features are integrated into the product4. Strategic Advisory & Vision Translation • Partner directly with the founders and vision holders to translate high-level product vision into a technical roadmap and build a sequencing • Work closely with product and UX perspectives to understand how users will be onboarded, guided, and engaged — and ensure the architecture supports a simple, streamlined, non-overwhelming experience • Make and advise on key architectural decisions with awareness of the broader mission and long-term trajectory5. Ethical & Intentional Technology Design • Bring active awareness of the dark patterns embedded in mainstream technology and contribute to a deliberate effort to design against them • Help architect a product experience that reduces dependence, promotes genuine connection, and honors the pacing and boundaries of the human nervous system • Approach every technical decision with the question: does this serve the human, or does it serve the platform? Who You AreTechnical Credentials • 10+ years in software engineering with meaningful experience in senior or principal architect roles • Proven track record designing and deploying scalable, cloud-native systems (AWS, GCP, Azure, or equivalent) • Deep familiarity with modern AI/LLM integration patterns, APIs, and development frameworks • Experience building and guiding DevOps practices: CI/CD, monitoring, infrastructure-as-code, security • Comfortable across the stack — able to assess and guide both front-end application architecture and back-end/AI system design • Agnostic in your tool preferences — you choose the right solution, not the familiar oneLeadership & Communication • You have mentored or led teams who did not come from traditional engineering backgrounds, and you know how to translate complexity into clarity • You can
