About The Role
The AI Software Engineer at Industrial Security Integrators is a critical role responsible for developing, integrating, and maintaining AI-driven automation solutions that enhance operational efficiency across various business units. Working closely with the AI Solutions Architect, this position involves transforming conceptual solution designs into robust, production-ready software, APIs, and platform integrations. The role requires a security-first approach, ensuring all code, deployments, and integrations adhere to organizational security standards and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in software engineering, practical experience with AI/ML tools, and familiarity with modern cloud platforms. This hands-on, delivery-focused role offers an exciting opportunity to work on innovative AI solutions within a dynamic environment.
Qualifications
• US Citizenship Required; must possess and be able to maintain a Secret Clearance.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of four years of progressive software engineering experience, with at least two years of hands-on experience in AI/ML-powered applications or automation solutions.
• Proficiency in modern programming languages such as Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, or Go.
• Experience building and deploying APIs, microservices, and cloud-native applications.
• Practical knowledge of AI/ML frameworks, large language model integration, or automation platform development.
• Familiarity with secure software development practices and operating in regulated environments with frameworks like CMMC, NIST SP 800 series, DFARS, or similar.
• Experience working with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and infrastructure-as-code tools.
Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered automation tools, workflows, and integrations to meet cross-functional business needs.
• Build and maintain APIs, microservices, and data pipelines connecting AI capabilities to business applications and platforms.
• Implement and configure commercial AI/automation platforms, making build vs. buy decisions aligned with organizational strategies.
• Write clean, well-documented, and testable code following established engineering standards and best practices.
• Develop and optimize AI models, prompts, and automation workflows to address operational bottlenecks identified by business units.
• Integrate large language models, machine learning frameworks, and AI services into enterprise workflows and applications.
• Create internal tools and interfaces to enable non-technical teams to leverage AI capabilities effectively.
• Continuously evaluate emerging AI tools and techniques to enhance solution quality and delivery speed.
• Embed security principles into all phases of the software development lifecycle, including secure coding, input validation, and access controls.
• Conduct code reviews focused on identifying and remediating security vulnerabilities.
• Ensure all AI integrations, API endpoints, and data flows are designed with least-privilege access, encryption, and proper logging.
• Collaborate with cloud security and compliance teams to ensure deployments meet regulatory standards such as CMMC, NIST, and DFARS.
• Support secure deployment practices including infrastructure-as-code, container security, and CI/CD pipeline hardening.
• Deploy and manage solutions across cloud and hybrid environments (Azure, AWS, GCP), adhering to security and architectural standards.
• Monitor application performance, reliability, and security posture in production environments, troubleshooting issues across the full stack.
• Partner with the AI Solutions Architect to refine solution designs and ensure technical feasibility.
• Participate in business meetings to gather requirements, demonstrate progress, and incorporate feedback.
• Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, API specifications, runbooks, and deployment procedures.
• Contribute to the development of reusable components, libraries, and patterns to streamline future solution delivery.
