Full-Stack Software Engineer (Backend-Leaning) | Fully Remote | Willow Processing Willow Processing is modernizing the systems behind our loan processing operations and building the integrations that connect us with lending partners. We're looking for a backend-leaning full-stack engineer to join our small team and own meaningful work from day one. What you'll do • Own features end to end: scope, design, build, ship, and monitor • Collaborate with teammates and operations staff on larger efforts • Build backend services and partner-facing APIs • Build and improve the web interfaces our staff and users rely on • Build AI-powered automation for internal workflows, with the guardrails and human review around it • Migrate data and logic from legacy systems without disrupting live operations • Make good technical decisions on your own and keep work moving without waiting for direction What we're looking for • 3+ years of professional software engineering with a strong backend focus, ideally TypeScript/Node or Python • Solid frontend skills with a modern framework like React or Next.js • Production experience designing and operating APIs (auth, idempotency, retries, observability) • Strong relational database and data migration skills • Hands-on experience building with AI tooling (LLM APIs, prompt design, tool use, or agent workflows), ideally in Python, and sound judgment about where AI needs checks • A track record of owning work from idea to production, and of collaborating well when the work is shared • Comfort with ambiguity, a fast pace, and clear written communication in a remote team Bonus points • Shipped AI features in production • DevOps experience (CI/CD, infrastructure as code, deployment automation) • Fintech, lending, or mortgage experience • Startup or small-team background If you'd rather ship and iterate than wait for a perfect spec, and you enjoy teaming up when the work calls for it, we'd love to hear from you.
