About the Role: We are seeking a Japanese Machine Learning Data Linguist (MLDL) to support the development and evaluation of next-generation AI capabilities for Quick and related AI initiatives. This role is responsible for creating, validating, and evaluating multilingual datasets used to train, benchmark, and improve large language models (LLMs) and AI-powered features. The ideal candidate combines native-level Japanese language expertise with exceptional attention to detail and an interest in AI, data quality, and emerging technologies.Working as part of a cross-functional team, you will collaborate closely with Language Engineers, Applied Scientists, Technical Program Managers, and fellow MLDLs to execute annotation, validation, localization, and human evaluation tasks that directly influence AI model performance and product quality. Note:This role requires a native Japanese speaker with excellent written Japanese proficiency who is currently based in the U.S. Job Title: Japanese Machine Learning Data Linguist (MLDL) Key Responsibilities:
• Perform guideline-driven annotation, validation, and evaluation of AI-generated content in Japanese.
• Create and validate multilingual training and evaluation datasets to support AI model development and language expansion.
• Conduct human evaluations of LLM outputs, including reasoning quality, factual accuracy, relevance, completeness, and adherence to project guidelines.

• Validate connector datasets, question-and-answer pairs, and structured data across multiple enterprise applications.
• Generate and evaluate prompts, scenarios, and research questions for AI evaluation workflows.
• Identify data quality issues, inconsistencies, and edge cases, providing clear, actionable feedback to Language Engineers and Applied Science teams.
• Perform structured peer reviews and self-reviews to maintain high quality standards.
• Adapt quickly to evolving project priorities, guidelines, and new AI evaluation workstreams.
• Accurately document findings and maintain detailed records of completed work. Minimum Qualifications:
• Native or near-native fluency in Japanese, with excellent written and reading comprehension.
• Professional proficiency in English.
• Bachelor's degree in Linguistics, Languages, Computer Science, AI, Data Science, Translation, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience performing annotation, linguistic evaluation, localization QA, content review, or similar quality-focused work.
• Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to consistently apply detailed annotation guidelines.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to identify subtle quality issues.
• Comfortable learning new tools, workflows, and AI technologies in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be a collaborative team player who works effectively in a cross-functional environment.
• Must be available to work Pacific Time Zone business hours. Desired Qualifications:
• Experience working with Large Language Models (LLMs), Generative AI, or AI evaluation workflows.
• Experience with multilingual dataset creation, human evaluation, benchmarking, or model validation.
• Knowledge of localization best practices and UI language quality assurance.
• Familiarity with SQL or an interest in developing technical data analysis skills.
