Product Development Engineer

Expert Radiology · United States

Full-timeLead

About the Role

The OpportunityExpert Radiology is becoming an AI company. Not in the way every company claims to be. We are building intelligent, enterprise-grade software that changes how radiology operates, and we need an exceptional engineer to own that product end-to-end.This is a founding-level hire. You will not be filing tickets in a queue or waiting for a PM to tell you what to build. You will be the product team. You will own the roadmap, make architecture calls, ship to production, and sit at the table when we make decisions about the future of the company. Your code will be the product. Your judgment will shape the business.Maybe you learned your craft at a large tech company and you are tired of moving slowly. Maybe you have been building at a startup and want the right vehicle to go all-in on. Maybe you taught yourself, shipped real products, and never needed a brand-name employer to validate your skills. It does not matter. If you can build, ship, and own a product, this is your shot to do it with real stakes and real equity. Who You AreYou are a 10x engineer, not because you write 10x more code, but because you make 10x better decisions about what to build and how to ship it. You are the person your last team relied on when something absolutely had to work. • You have a CS degree and the engineering fundamentals to back it up — not just framework knowledge but real systems thinking • You have built and shipped products that real users depend on, whether that was at a top tech company (FAANG-caliber), a high-growth startup, or on your own • You use Claude Code (or similar AI-assisted development tools) as a force multiplier and you understand how to build at 3x speed without introducing 3x risk • You understand enterprise software deeply: authentication, authorization, data security, audit trails, and how to build systems that do not break under pressure • You have strong UI/UX instincts and can collaborate with a dedicated designer to turn wireframes into interfaces that feel effortless • You think about scalability from day one, not as an afterthought when things start breaking • You are energetic, self-directed, and communicate with clarity — you do not need to be managed, you need to be pointed at a problem What You Will OwnThis is not a list of tasks. This is the scope of your impact: • Product Roadmap — The entire Expert Radiology product roadmap, from strategy to shipped code • Architecture — Stack, infrastructure, CI/CD, deployment, and monitoring decisions • AI-Powered Development — Feature development at velocity using Claude Code and AI-powered workflows — we build fast here and you will set the pace • Security & Compliance — Security posture for an enterprise healthcare product, including encryption, access controls, and compliance-aware design • Design Partnership — Close collaboration with our UI/UX designer to deliver polished, production-ready interfaces that enterprise customers trust • AI Product Direction — Technical direction as we integrate AI capabilities deeper into the product — you will help define what this AI company actually builds • Leadership Access — Direct communication with the founder on technical tradeoffs, timeline decisions, and product strategy Non-Negotiables • BS or MS in Computer Science or Software Engineering, or equivalent depth gained through professional experience and self-directed learning • 3+ years of professional experience shipping production software at scale • Demonstrated proficiency with Claude Code or equivalent AI-assisted development tools • Deep full-stack skills: you can build a secure API, a responsive frontend, and deploy it all to production by yourself if needed • Proven ability to work autonomously and make sound technical decisions without constant oversight • Track record of products shipped, not just PRs merged What Sets You Apart • Experience operating at scale — whether at a FAANG company, a high-growth startup, or a product you built yourself that handled real traffic and real users • Experience building healthcare or regulated-industry software (HIPAA, DICOM, HL7/FHIR) • Background in machine learning, AI product integration, or LLM-powered application development • History as a founding engineer or first engineering hire at a startup • Certified Product Manager (CPM) certification — preferred but not required; demonstrates product-minded thinking that complements engineering ownership • Open-source contributions or a portfolio of shipped side projects that demonstrate range and initiative CompensationWe are hiring an A-player and we compensate accordingly: • Base Salary: $180,000 – $210,000/year, benchmarked against senior IC roles at top tech companies • Fully remote with flexible hours — we care about output, not attendance • Puerto Rico relocation incentive: compensation premium and zero state income tax for candidates based in or willing to relocate to Puerto Rico under Act 60 • Direct access to the founder with real influence on c
