Ability to Obtain Public Trust
We are seeking a highly capable Cloud Infrastructure & Automation Engineer to support and secure large-scale infrastructure, cloud, and platform operations across federal environments. You will be responsible for deploying, managing, and optimizing AWS and hybrid infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on automation, security, compliance, and mission continuity for critical workloads.
This role is ideal for someone who is hands-on, outcomes-driven, and comfortable collaborating across engineering, security, networking, and data teams to deliver stable, secure, and scalable infrastructure in regulated environments.
What You Will Do
Cloud Infrastructure & Automation (AWS / IaC)
• Automate provisioning and lifecycle management of AWS services—including identity, compute, storage, backups, networking, logging, and monitoring—using Terraform or similar Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.
• Deploy, configure, harden, and maintain infrastructure across AWS and hybrid environments following secure baseline standards.
• Standardize reusable IaC modules, promote best practices, and improve environment consistency across dev/test/prod.
DevOps Enablement & Operational Excellence
• Build and enhance CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps workflows using tools such as Git, Terraform, Jenkins, AWS CodePipeline, and Docker.
• Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure and automation issues to ensure reliability, performance, and mission continuity.
• Implement operational visibility with logging/monitoring improvements and actionable dashboards (as applicable to your environment).
Security, Compliance, and Resilience
• Apply cybersecurity best practices and support zero-trust and compliance-aligned infrastructure operations (e.g., NIST, CIS, ISO 27000).
• Collaborate with security and networking teams to implement secure configurations, change controls, and audit-ready operational processes.
• Support business continuity and disaster recovery (DR) requirements and operational readiness.
Cross-Team Collaboration & Documentation
• Work closely with engineering, security, networking, and application teams to support mission needs and delivery timelines.
• Partner with data engineers and scientists to enable infrastructure needs for data pipelines and machine learning workflows.
• Maintain high-quality engineering documentation including SOPs, system diagrams, and secure configuration baselines.
• Summarize and present findings and recommendations—both written and verbal—to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
What You Will Need
• Must be able to OBTAIN and MAINTAIN a Federal or DoD "PUBLIC TRUST"; candidates must obtain approved adjudication of their PUBLIC TRUST prior to onboarding with Guidehouse. Candidates with an ACTIVE PUBLIC TRUST or SUITABILITY are preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, IT, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum SIX (6) years of hands-on experience in AWS, cloud infrastructure, and/or enterprise IT operations.
• Strong hands-on expertise with Terraform for AWS infrastructure automation.
• Experience building and operating CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices with tools such as Git, Terraform, Jenkins, AWS CodePipeline, Docker.
• Strong scripting skills in Python and Bash.
• Working knowledge of cybersecurity best practices, zero-trust concepts, and compliance frameworks such as NIST, CIS, ISO 27000.
• Experience using AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Cursor, Kiro) to accelerate delivery while maintaining strict quality via testing, reviews, and security practices.
• Self-starter mindset with the ability to work independently and collaboratively across Engineering, DevOps, and Architecture functions.
• Eligibility for Public Trust and ability to complete federal background screening.
What Would Be Nice To Have
• AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional (or equivalent).
• CompTIA Security+.
• Experience provisioning and implementing data pipelines for lakehouse platforms such as Databricks or AWS services including S3, Lake Formation, Glue, and Athena.
• Ability to design and optimize AWS data solutions, including migration pipelines, ETL workflows, and serverless architectures.
• Experience with monitoring and SIEM tools such as CloudWatch and Splunk.
• Experience supporting enterprise business continuity and disaster recovery (DR) solutions.
