About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative AI Engineer to join our dynamic Data Science team. This full-time hybrid position offers the opportunity to work from our offices in Boston, NYC, or Springfield, with flexibility for remote collaboration. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and deploying advanced artificial intelligence solutions that influence strategic decision-making and drive digital transformation within the organization. Your expertise will help shape the future of MassMutual's offerings and contribute to the broader life insurance industry by leveraging cutting-edge AI technologies such as large language models, generative AI, and machine learning frameworks.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in data science, machine learning, and AI engineering, with a focus on practical application and deployment. Candidates should have at least 5 years of experience in SQL, database design, and proficiency in Python, with familiarity in R as an added advantage. A deep understanding of machine learning algorithms, natural language processing, optimization techniques, and large language models (LLMs) is essential. Additionally, candidates should have a minimum of 3 years in data science or AI roles, with at least 2 years of hands-on experience in AI deployment frameworks, orchestration tools, and AI agents. A solid background in cloud-native development, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and experience collaborating with software engineers and product managers are also required. A master's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field is preferred.
Responsibilities
The AI Engineer will be responsible for developing and deploying scalable, enterprise-grade AI solutions that address complex business challenges. Key responsibilities include designing end-to-end machine learning and AI pipelines, utilizing large language models and generative AI to create innovative solutions, and deploying these solutions in production environments. The role involves collaborating closely with engineering teams to build robust APIs and data pipelines, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems. The engineer will prototype AI-powered applications such as dashboards, visualizations, and web apps that enable data-driven decision-making across departments. Establishing best practices for responsible AI development and deployment is critical, as is promoting adherence to ethical standards and transparency. The AI Engineer will also evaluate and optimize LLM and agentic behaviors across various foundation models, ensuring their effectiveness and alignment with organizational goals. Continuous learning and staying abreast of emerging AI trends and technologies are vital to maintaining a competitive edge.
