Founding Engineer

Neighborbrite is building the AI-native design platform for the $150B+ U.S. landscaping industry, a massive, fragmented market where technology adoption has historically been low. Today, design and estimating workflows are manual and disconnected. We use generative vision models, LLM workflows, and structured plant intelligence to turn a single yard photo into buildable designs and intelligent planning tools. Over 600,000 registered users have generated more than 15 million designs on our platform. Building on that foundation, we are deepening our investment in professional-grade, AI-native software for contractors. Moving from inspiration to intelligent design, estimation, and workflow automation. We are hiring a Founding Engineer to work directly with the founders and shape the long-term technical foundation of the company, owning product development end-to-end and building production-grade AI systems that redefine how the landscaping industry operates. Responsibilities Ship AI-Native Product Features • Build user-facing features powered by LLMs, generative image models, and structured data • Design agentic workflows that combine vision, reasoning, and retrieval • Translate cutting-edge AI into intuitive, reliable product experiences Full-Stack Ownership • Architect and build frontend systems in Next.js / TypeScript • Design backend services and APIs in Python • Integrate AI systems into production with strong reliability and observability • Make architectural decisions that balance speed, scalability, and maintainability • Work across cloud infrastructure (e.g., DynamoDB, Lambda, SageMaker, S3) to ship scalable, production-grade systems Help Define the Platform • Build tools for both homeowners and landscaping professionals • Encode domain knowledge like climate zones, plant compatibility, and spatial constraints • Shape the long-term architecture of an AI-native vertical software company Qualifications • 3+ years of professional software engineering experience (we expect strong ownership and production experience) • Proven track record of shipping and maintaining real production systems • Experience driving features from ambiguous problem → architecture → implementation → launch • Strong full-stack capabilities and sound system design judgment • Experience working with modern cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred) • Comfortable operating in a fast-moving, high-autonomy startup environment Strong plus if you have: • Experience integrating LLMs, AIGC, or agentic workflows into products • Experience with generative vision systems We're looking for builders who take responsibility for outcomes, not just tickets.
