Product Engineer, New Products

Replit is the agentic software creation platform that enables anyone to build applications using natural language. With millions of users worldwide, Replit is democratizing software development by removing traditional barriers to application creation.

About the Role

As a Product Engineer, you'll take emerging ideas from concept to polished experiences. You'll build sophisticated, intuitive user experiences while working across AI models, agentic workflows, and all parts of web infrastructure to ship complete products.

The Goal: Build products that can define major new categories for Replit. You will combine the flexibility of software with the accessibility of presentations, spreadsheets, dashboards, and visual editors, enabling anyone to create powerful, interactive artifacts through natural language.

The Audience: We build for the next generation of creators, knowledge workers, and high-leverage teams. Our users should be able to turn an idea, dataset, or business problem into a polished, editable, and shareable product just by themselves.

Candidates who thrive here often have the product judgment, technical range, and ownership mindset associated with founders. This is a high-visibility role working closely with product leadership.

How we work

Structure: We operate as a collective of in-house technical founders, not narrowly specialized engineers. Initiatives are run by lean, autonomous teams built for velocity and technical leverage. Engineers maintain meaningful ownership over technical direction, product quality, and launch success, supported by Product and Design partners.

Cadence: We work in focused three-week sprints, shipping quickly, observing real user behavior, and incorporating feedback into each iteration. We value decisive execution, thoughtful experimentation, and the ability to make progress without perfectly defined requirements.

What you'll do

• Own major product experiences from initial concept through design, implementation, launch, measurement, and continued improvement

• Invent and build intuitive interfaces for generating, editing, arranging, and collaborating on AI-created presentations, data applications, and visual artifacts

• Deliver exceptional frontend experiences across interaction design, typography, layout, motion, accessibility, performance, and error recovery

• Partner directly with users, Product, Design, and AI engineers to understand real workflows, test ideas, and turn feedback into better products

• Create reusable editing, visualization, and collaboration primitives that accelerate future products across Replit

  
  

Required Skills and Experience

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience with a strong record of shipping high-quality, user-facing products

• Understanding of the full agentic software development stack, helping coding agents build, test and review correct code

• Deep experience with TypeScript, React, HTML, and CSS, along with strong knowledge of browser performance, application state, responsive design, and accessibility

• Strong product judgment and visual taste, with the ability to balance usability, speed, correctness, polish, and long-term maintainability

• Comfort working across the full stack, including Node.js, APIs, Postgres, data models, and production debugging

• Familiarity with agentic software development and how coding agents build, test, review, and operate software

  
  

Bonus Points

• Building visual editors, presentation software, creative tools, data applications, developer tools, or collaboration products

• Working with canvas or graphics systems, rich text, direct manipulation, real-time collaboration, data visualization, or complex interactive interfaces

• Designing user experiences around AI generation, streaming responses, tool calls, and long-running agent workflows

• Founding a technical company, working as a founding engineer, or shipping a high-visibility independent project

These experiences are preferred, but not required. We care most about what you have built, the quality of your product thinking, and your ability to learn quickly.

Example Projects You'll Work On

• Building on top of our Replit Slides AI-native presentation product where users can generate beautiful decks, directly edit elements, collaborate with others, and reliably export their work

• Enable Replit Agent to turn raw datasets and natural-language questions into interactive, trustworthy data applications

• Design visual tools that make AI-generated work feel as precise, editable, and controllable as traditionally authored content

• Build reusable editing, visualization, collaboration, and artifact-management systems that power multiple new Replit products

• Develop feedback loops and evaluations that improve the visual quality of Agent-generated artifacts
  

This is a full-time role that can be held from our Foster City, CA office. The hybrid role has an in-office requirement of Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
