My client is the world's largest virtual clinic for women and families, helping over 2,000 employers improve healthcare outcomes. They're becoming an AI-native organization and just raised $425M from top investors like Sequoia and General Catalyst.
You'll join a foundational AI team of just 4-5 engineers building shared AI infrastructure that powers the entire product suite. This isn't a massive team where you get lost - you'll directly impact millions of users with chatbots, recommendation engines, and gen AI solutions.
Staff-level role with $220-300K comp, building cutting-edge AI solutions from the ground up. You'll work with the latest LLM technologies and have the chance to shape the AI strategy as they scale.
We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer, AI/ML with at least 6 years of experience to join our foundational AI/ML team. We are seeking a product-minded software engineer who can design, build, and deploy end-to-end AI-powered solutions and is capable of working on complex AI/ML systems. This individual will be one of a handful of engineers expected to impact the entire product suite that we offer, helping us become an AI-native organization.
Requirements:
• 6 - 15 years of experience in a software engineering role
• Strong proficiency in Python for software and ML development.
• Experience with LLMs, RAG, and agent frameworks in production.
• Experience with PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Experience as a ML engineer with experience building AI/ML products end- to- end
• Experience with Generative AI applications
• Experience working end- to- end on the ML pipeline (e. g. , data ingestion and structuring through analysis and training etc. )
• Experience shipping a product or feature from 0 to 1.
• Bachelor's degree in CS, or Math, Physics, or related engineering field.
• Possesses a builder mindset: Excited to be part of a foundational team, adaptable, and actively learning as the AI landscape changes.
• Track record of agency and autonomy: comfortable being accountable for delivery without heavy mentorship/support.
• Must be located in San Francisco, Seattle, or New York City.
What will you be doing?
• Design, build, and deploy end-to-end AI-powered solutions using models like OpenAI and modern orchestration techniques (RAG, agents).
• Build critical AI initiatives such as our chatbot, recommendation engine, and search functionalities.
• Develop robust ML pipelines and platform components for model experimentation, fine-tuning, and deployment with a focus on scalability, safety, and performance.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, data, and engineering teams to turn rich healthcare data into actionable insights and intelligent workflows.
• Drive architecture discussions and technical decision-making across AI/ML systems, promoting best practices.
