About the Role

Software EngineerDocDraft is an AI-powered legal platform. We pair AI-generated documents with licensed attorney oversight to make legal services accessible to consumers and small businesses. Our platform handles sensitive client data, real-time AI workflows, and attorney handoffs across a network covering the U.S We're hiring a generalist engineer who can move across the stack. You'll spend meaningful time on reliability and infrastructure, but you'll also ship product, build internal tools, and work on whatever needs to get done. We're a small team, and we value range. What you'll do • Own reliability, observability, and incident response as we scale • Build and harden CI/CD, deployment pipelines, and infrastructure on Vercel • Tune Postgres for performance, reliability, and cost • Build and improve vertical AI agents that handle real legal workflows • Ship features and improvements across the product when priorities call for it • Build internal tools that make our attorneys and operators faster • Strengthen security posture, including data handling for sensitive legal information • Partner closely with our CTO on architecture and product decisionsWhat we're looking for • 5+ years building and operating production software • Strong Python skills • Hands-on experience with Next.js, Vercel, and Postgres • Comfort with observability tooling (Datadog, Grafana, or similar) • Strong interest in building vertical AI agents and shipping AI-native products • Fluent with AI coding agents in day-to-day work (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or similar). You treat them as leverage, not a novelty. • Range: you've shipped product, debugged infra, and written internal tools, and you don't need to specialize to do good work • Pragmatic judgment about what to build, what to buy, and what to ignore • Background in regulated or security-sensitive environments is a plus
